No, I'm not kidding....In 1995 Vital Technologies Corporation (a Canadian Firm, no less) manufactured and sold the "Tricorder TM Model TR-107 Mark 1", a multi-function Electronic device that can monitor EM fields, sense light intensity, read and translate colours in RGB mode, act as a light meter, measure temperature and barometric pressure. It also acts a clock, calendar, and stopwatch. As you can see from the photo they purchased rights to make it look as much like the TV prop as possible! As far as I know there were only 10,000 made by the time the company went out of business. It comes with the original box, a signed certificate of authenticity, a CD ROM with interactive operator's manual, a paper booklet operator's manual and a registration form &endash; which of course is useless....but it works! Of course it also makes the original TV Sound and has cool blinking lights! The box is only slightly worn on the outside and a bit damaged on the inside. It's really cool! And it's much more than a toy or movie prop! I purchased it in an online auction several years ago, and for the right price may be willing to part with it. My research suggests that it originally retailed for app. $500 U.S. so factoring in the collectibility of this object I'm prepared to start the bidding at $600 Cdn. Shipping and insurance, is of course, extra. Let the frenzy begin!
